Astonishingly, here is one covermercial that we missed! Luckily, one regular reader spotted this gem so here it is….

Apparently, in 2015, Walkers Crisps reworked the Cher classic from 1990 ‘The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss)’ to be a rather clever play on words…

Unfortunately, we cannot locate a TV advert for this as there is no video to be found on YouTube. If anybody has the video, then please contact us.

We cannot be certain that an advert got to television, but our reader has sent a photo from the poster campaign that she saw in London last year (please see below). As you can see, it was themed for Valentine’s Day with heart shaped crisps!!!! Brand ambassador, Gary Lineker features as ever and the flavour pictured is even ‘Cher & Lineker’. We never saw that flavour in the shops but it looks like they were limited edition just for the day of love. The covermercial twist comes at the end of the famous lyric with ‘Because if he loves you so….. and if you want to know…. it’s in his CRISP!!!!!’

Hats off to the Walkers marketing team – that is genius! And props to Cher for being such a good sport and endorsing it!

Of course, ‘The Shoop Shoop Song’ was a hit for Cher but Betty Everett had a hit with it prior to that. However, the very original version was performed by Merry Clayton.
