Birdseye Steakhouse Grills vs Doris Day – ‘Whatever Will Be, Will Be’ (Que Sera, Sera)

Birdseye Steakhouse Grills vs Doris Day

When the gifted actress/singer Doris Day first recorded “Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)”, she did not have much affection for the song. After the final notes of Frank DeVol’s arrangement of the original 1956 version echoed out of the recording studio and into silence – Ms. Day commented in deadpan fashion: “Well, that’s the last you’ll ever hear of THAT silly song!”

Errr, Doris……

This Birdseye version is so effective that I always want a steak straight after watching it AND fried onion rings. Absoluetly brilliant advertising.

In 1993, the KLF under their K Foundation guise recorded a version as ‘K Cera Cera’. Rare as hens teeth and super collectable, this beautiful choral reworking was cited as one of Gordon Brown’s Desert Island Discs and was also played at the wedding of Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq.
